Over the last few weeks I’ve noticed many videos by Stampin’ Up! demonstrators that incorporate the fold commonly called ‘drapery or curtain fold’. I’m thinking it’s because there is a Designer Series Paper (DSP) sale on right now at Stampin’ Up!. Everyone must be thinking the same thing — let’s use up some of our older papers in order to buy more. But these videos are showing a slightly different version and are
referring to it as the ‘double pleated fold’ and I’ll explain how to
make it.
If you’d like to order and live in the Victoria area, let me know and I’ll add to my end of the month group order. If you live elsewhere in Canada, you can certainly order from me, and I’d love it if you did. Simply use this month’s Hostess Code: xxxx when placing your order.
Now on to the fold technique. Here is a sampling of the cards I’ve been making. The first two were designs for my last Stamp Cafe class. And the last one I made for my husband’s upcoming birthday.
The pleated piece is so simple to make. Cut a piece of DSP to measure 5 x 10 inches.
With the design you want facing up, place the long side on your score board and score as follows:
1″
1-1/2″
2-1/2″
3″
4″
4-1/2″
5-1/2″
6″
7-1/2″
8-1/2″
9
Keeping the paper on the score board , take a pencil and mark at 4-1/2″ and 5-1/2″ top and bottom of the long side. Rotate to the 5″ side and mark at 2″ and 3″ top and bottom.
Next, you will match up these pencil marks on your trimmer and cut. You end up with a rather elongated diamond shape. You then simply fold back and forth along the score lines and place some glue along the narrow pleats to glue down.
For this last card:
I lined up the elongated diamond shaped DSP on my trimmer (prior to fold the pleats) and basically cut it in half to create two pleated pieces or you can fold up the pleats then cut as demonstrated in this video.
The card layering measurements are:
Cajun Craze Card Base: 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 scored at 4-1/4 inches
Delightful Dijon layer: 3-7/8 x 5 inches
DSP for the pleats: 10 x 5 inches
Very Vanilla for the inside: 4 x 5-1/4 inches
DSP strip for the inside: 4-1/8 x 1 inches
Now why don’t you try and make one and if you have any questions, leave it in a comment.

Thank you for sharing! I followed along using my trimmer groove as a score line. Very quick & easy.
