Seashore Stampers Blog Hop – Wedding Theme

Welcome back to this month’s blog hop – the month of weddings. My parents were married in June, June 24 to be exact and they would have been married for 64 years if they had lived on into their eighties. My husband and I will have been married for 30 years this August, August 15 to be exact.

Today, with so many couples already living together, they already have so much of the basic items that were traditionally given as a wedding gift. Now couples seem to be struggling to make ends meet so a gift card or cash seems to be appropriate and much appreciated.

And for this reason I chose to create a gift card wedding card in monochromatic tones using Whisper White and Tranquil Tide. The gift card is held in place by a panel that slides into the envelope. The envelope is made using the designer series paper on top of which you layer a piece of Tranquil Tide. Then, rather than a flat one-dimensional greeting piece, I decided to create a small card for the front.

 Here are the card supplies I used:

Floral Phrases stamp set
Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper
Tranquil Tide card stock
Whisper White card stock
Tranquil Tide stamp pad
VersaMark stamp pad
Silver embossing powder
Word Window punch (retired) or Classic Label punch
1-3/4″ circle punch
Hole punch
Layering ovals framelits
1/2″ finely woven ribbon in Tranquil Tide

Cutting Measurements (CS = card stock; DSP = designer series paper) and Assembly

For the card envelope:

Tranquil Tide DSP : 6″ x 9″, scored in landscape position at 4-1/4″ and 8-1/2″. In portrait position score at 1/2″ on left side.
Top layer: Tranquil Tide CS: 5-1/4″ x 4″

Burnish the score lines on the DSP envelope. I suggest using Tear & Tape for the adhesive.
Adhere the Tranquil Tide card stock on top.
Using the circle punch, punch half a hole on the top half of the opening.
Set aside.

For the small card:
Whisper White CS: 7-1/2″ x 2-3/4″ scored at 3-3/4″
1st layer: Tranquil Tide CS: 3-5/8″ x 2-5/8″
2nd layer: Tranquil Tide DSP: 3-1/2″ x 2-1/2″

Adhere the card stock piece followed by the DSP piece to the front. Cut a 1/2″ slit along the spine of the card to thread the ribbon through and tie a knot. Stick a glue dot beneath the ribbon to hold in place.
On scrap Whisper White card stock stamp the floral image in VersaMark, cover with silver embossing powder and heat set. Cut out, add dimensionals and stick to card front.
Stamp the ‘wedding wishes’ greeting and cut out with one of the oval framelits. Cut out a corresponding scallop. Stick the two together then stick on top of ribbon using glue dots.
Stamp a corresponding greeting on the inside.

For the gift card insert:
Tranquil Tide CS: 5-1/4″ x 4″
1st layer: Tranquil Tide DSP: 5-1/8″ x 3-7/8″
2nd layer: Whisper White CS: 5″ x 3-6/8″

Repeatedly cut a slot using the Word Window or Classic Label punch making it wide enough to hold a gift card which typically measures 3-3/8″ x 2-1/8″.
Stamp and emboss the floral image.
Adhere the layers to the base. Be sure to only stick adhesive around the edges of the Whisper White layer to ensure the insertion of the gift card.
Punch a hole on the right side and thread the ribbon through and knot.

For an envelope to put the entire project in, I found that a regular A2 envelope was too small so I make one using the Envelope Punch Board and selected the Card Size of 4-1/2″ x 5-1/2″.
