Hello everyone,
I hope you are enjoying your weekend. It’s sunny but terribly windy here in Victoria. Great for the Swiftsure International Yacht Race though.
Browsing through the new Annual Catalouge, I came across the cards featured for the Tranquil Textures suite. I just love the octopus and all the images from the stamp set — so West Coast.
Here is the card I designed.
I think the idea of an octopus peeking in a port hole came to me after watching a fictitious movie called Goliath Awaits. It’s not about an octopus actually, but rather an interesting story of a passenger liner sunk by a German U-boat. It was discovered 42 years later by a research vessel only to find 339 people still alive. I digress but it was a fascinating watch.
I decided to create the Captain’s office and used the Wood Textures DSP to create the panelled wall with a shelf holding ocean treasures.
I stamped the octopus in Tranquil Tide ink and cut out with the framelit. I then cut a piece of the Tranquil Textures DSP and a piece of window sheet measuring 3 x 3 inches. I adhered the octopus and some sea greens to the DSP and then, using glue dots in the corners, adhered the window sheet on top. Using the circle framelits dies, I created a frame in Early Expresso and punched out some gold foil dots to embellish the port hole. I sponged the sea dollar and coral to give dimension and made the shelf using the Classic Label Punch. I cannot remember which stamp set the greeting came from but the banner stamp is from the Birthday Banners photopolymer stamp set.
June 1 and 2, in my Stampin’ Studio, is the new Annual Catalogue Showcase. See details on my Events calendar and RSVP to reserve your copy of the catalogue. Lots of fun so be sure to come.
Please hop along now to see other creations for this month.

Happy stamping!
Joyful Stamper
Love this card, Erica! I don't have this stamp set (yet) but this card definitely has me putting this set onto my wish list!

Super cute idea and ideal for us in Victoria. The 'shelf' added just the right touch, as did the 'Wood Textures' DSP. It's so great to have more ideas for those masculine cards.
