This card is a deviation from the normal fun fold card as the ‘fun fold’ is the kite on the front.
I recently saw this card made by Lisa Curcio on her YouTube Channel. I was intrigued and wanted to make one. During the first attempt I encountered difficulty folding the kite flat and ensuring the tip of the kite was aligned. Also, adhering the Designer Series Paper to the kite front and getting even borders was a challenge. On my second version I created different processes to improve the assembly. I incorporate these in my video.
The kite is held closed with a magnet. Open it up to reveal a greeting on the inside.
Cutting and Scoring Measurements
Cardstock base for a tent fold: 4-1/4″ x 11, scored in half at 5-1/2″
For the kite, Whisper White cardstock: 4″ x 10″
DSP for the kite: one piece cut to 1-7/8″ x 1-7/8″ and one piece cut to 1-7/8″ x 2-5/8″
Here are a couple more versions for your viewing pleasure.
I used the same stamp set on all three cards – Massive Thanks – and I selected paper from two Designer Series Paper packs, Artistry Blooms and the 2020-2022 In-Color collection.
I would advise you watch my video through to the end as I forget to adhere the tail to the kite before adhering the kite to the card base. And hopefully my tips on folding the kite and adhering the DSP will help with your kite-making process.
Happy stamping everyone.
