Cards with a slide lock mechanism seem to be everywhere these days on Pinterest and YouTube. Just this week I came across two videos, one by Julie Davison, the other by Rachel Tessman. Although they both made the same fun fold, it was interesting to watch their approach to creating the locking mechanism.
This is my version using the Birds & Branches stamp bundle which I suspect will be retiring soon as it’s been around for a couple of years. I love this set because I love birds. Lately, I have been fascinated with the different birds coming into my yard as they make their way back from wintering in the south.

This is how the card looks when open so you can see the slide lock mechanism on the left. All the directions are in the video below. Once you know the mechanics, it’s quite easy to do.

Cutting & Scoring Measurements
- Card base, Misty Moonlight, 5-1/2″ x 10-1/2, scored a smidge less than 4-1/4″ and then at 8-1/2″
- DSP, Flowers for Every Season, 4″ x 5-1/4″, and 1-3/4″ x 5-1/4″
- Inside sentiment panel, Basic White, 4″ x 5-1/4″
An essential tool for making this card is the Classic Label Punch, item #141491, $24.00. This punch is used a lot when making gift card holders as it creates a slot for the gift card. I have also seen it used for making a peek through card such as the one I made last Friday.

I made another slide lock card a while back and if interested, here is the link to that video.
